The RAYTECH-2.3 self-amalgamating insulating tape was produced on the basis of ethylene-propylene rubber. The tape is widely used for sealing cable connections in both indoor and outdoor installations. Correct application of the tape ensures total waterproof for fresh and sea water in a vary wide range of temperatures. 

The tape is interleaved with a disposable plastic liner, which must be removed before applying the tape. 

Correct application of the tape: 

The tape has no adhesive, the seal of the connection is the result of the self-amalgamating process of subsequent layers of tape. 

The surfaces for tape applying have to be clean, dry, free of dust, grease, oil and other contaminants.

Application method is wrapping the tape (without plastic liner) around the object, stretching it to the point that its width reduces to about 2/3, and make 50% overlap. It guaranties tight adhesion of the tape to the protected object and between its layers. The tension of the tape during wrapping is very important because it guarantees the proper adhesion. Depending on the temperature of the environment within a few hours, the layers are amalgamated to each other but not to the substrate. The full self-amalgamating process takes about 24 hours at room temperature (20°C).
